Sunderland's Christmas Experience

Christmas is coming early to Sunderland City Centre with a day of festivities on Sunday 16th November.

The day will start with a visit from Santa Clause and his Reindeer parading through the City Centre at 12:30pm, starting at Bedford Street and heading to Market Place via John Street, Fawcett Street, High Street and Union Street.  The Reindeer will then take a well earned rest in Market Square, where there will be REAL...YES REAL SNOW before heading home to Lapland.  All the children who are usually fast asleep when they make their Christmas Eve house calls are welcome to visit and may even get to stroke them!!  Santa will be taking up residence in his Grotto at the Bridges, opposite Moben and Sharps Bedrooms, where you can make a keepsake Christmas tree decoration with Santa.  You can book tickets online at www.melbryevents.co.uk .

There will also be Ice Sculptures in Sunniside Gardens, including live performances throughout the day from 11:30am - 5:00pm.  Created by two former Sunderland University students we guarantee you will be absolutely amazed by these wintry works of art, some of which are upto THREE meters tall!!

The Sunderland Echo will also be launching their Christmas Toy Appeal.   Which touches the lives of hundreds of Wearside families by collecting gifts for children and handing them out via Wearside Women in Need and Sunderland Social Services.

The Yuletide Wishes experience will conclude with the grand Bridges Christams Lights Switch-On in Marekt Square at 4:00pm.  Simon and Sarah from Sun FM will be providing a festive roadshow and visitors can meet cast members from this years pantomime Aladdin at the Sunderland Empire.
