Starting with Bob the Builder on August 2, young people will be able to come and meet and greet their favourite characters throughout the summer, including The Sportacus UK actor - officially approved by LAZYTOWN and Bart and Homer Simpson. Characters will parade around the city stopping in various locations including Market Square, Sunniside Gardens, High Street and Park Lane.
From July 26, Sunderland City Council is adding more free parking for visitors in all of its city centre car parks every Sunday and on bank holiday Mondays.
Free car parks will now include St Mary’s multi-storey, the new Sunniside multi-storey adding to the already existing free parking at Tavistock Place, West Wear Street, Nile Street, Tatham Street, Charles Street and Boughton Street, opposite Sunderland Interchange.
The free parking applies only to off street car parking operated by Sunderland City Council and does not include The Bridges’ rooftop car park or the multi-storey at Debenhams.
